Homework Policy
Homework Board:
There is a board in the classroom listing the homework for each day. Students will be required to record all assignments in their planner whether completed or not. I sign the planner at the end of the day and parents are asked to also sign the planner daily.
Homework Binders:
Keeping a homework planner is an essential skill students must learn. Not only will this help them be successful in Grade 6, but also in future school years to come. Therefore, students are expected to keep their planner in their homework binder. This binder must be at school each day and then be brought home for parents signature.
Homework:
Homework is a powerful tool for learning and a necessary part of any student’s successful mastery of skills and knowledge. You can expect that your child will have homework some nights. Homework usually consists of in class assignments that were not finished. When there is no homework, your child is encouraged to read for at least 30 minutes.
Homework due dates will be given on the day it is assigned. I expect work to be turned in on time. If there is a problem, please send in a note to let me know so I may help your child.
I will make sure my students write their assignments down each day.
You can help your child do well on homework assignments by helping him or her set aside a study time each night, having all necessary materials in one place, and contacting me if there is a problem we can solve together.
